Samsung Electronics has officially taken the wraps off the world's first smartphone with a curved display. It is called as Samsung Galaxy Round and it is all set to launch sometime in next year. The gadget will carry forward a fairly pronounced curve look, which makes this unique in its segment. The Korean firm has just sent out a press release about this smartphone and it will begin selling on Korean telecom operator SK Telecom. The leaked Samsung Galaxy Round pictures shows that the device will be available in luxury brown color option. But, there is no further more details from the Samsung mobiles regarding the release of this smartphone elsewhere. We heard lots of speculation surrounded this Galaxy Round, which seems to be a variant of Galaxy Note 3 with flexible display. The only difference is the absence of S-Pen slot. No official confirmation regarding the Samsung Galaxy Round price details, but it is expected to be around 50 to 60k.
The device will be features a 5.7-inch full HD Super Flexible AMOLED display with slight horizontal curve. For more comfortable grip, it weighs less than the Galaxy Note 3, a flat-screen model on the market. According to the source, the smartphone will comes 7.9 mm thick and weighs 154 grams. Similar like the Galaxy Note 3, the handset features a leather and stitch inspired design for the back cover. It has Side Mirror application which assists the user to gain access to a list of the album contents with a left and right tilt. The Samsung Galaxy Round features a 13 megapixel camera on the back and a 2 megapixel front-facing unit.
The smartphone also comes with LTE support. The company has introduced quite a few tweaks like Roll Effect which enable the user to get information like date, time, missed call and battery easily when home screen is off. It is included with Gravity effect which will create visual interaction with the screen by tilting the device. There is Bounce UX which enables the users to control their music. The handset is powered by a 2,800 mAh battery. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 with quad-core Krait CPU clocked at 2.3GHz. Additionally, it is packed with a 3GB of RAM for multi-tasking. It has a 32GB of in built memory, apart from the external microSD card slot.
