Samsung has launched it's new model Corby Speed, the first touch screen mobile phone that is based on the CDMA platform. Samsung Corby Speed comes with data speed of up to 2.4 Mbps. This new mobile will sell for Rs 10,400. The Samsung Corby Speed comes in bold colours and stylish curved body design. The phone is enriched with 2 megapixel camera, a 2.8 inch display screen, music player, FM radio with recording and 80 MB of internal memory that is expandable upto 8 GB by using a MicroSD slot card. Corby Speed will also be sold on Tata Indicom with various data plans. Samsung's main focus was on the operator vertical since it ventured into the CDMA handset business in 2003 by importing from China.Spice M7070 is the newly launched mobile phone in India. SonyEricsson Elm will soon grace the Indian mobile market.

Price war has begun

In India price war between touch screen mobile phone has just begun. While Samsung India has created a stir with Corby, which it launched a few weeks ago, Samsung's Corby, available in four models, is priced below Rs 10,000, much lower than Taiwanese firm HTC's phones for less than Rs 15,000. Samsung is seeking to change the market dynamics by targeting on teenagers and youth. Corby also offers users on the move access to Facebook, Twitter and MySpace, etc features. Samsung India's general manager, marketing Asim Warsi, says: "Touch pad provides a new way of engaging with a mobile phone." Not only Samsung but Nokia is also stepping forward in the war. Vipul Sabharwal, sales director of Nokia India, says, "Nokia is focused on taking the touch experience to the masses by launching products at competitive prices". It also helps in increasing our average selling price per phone and therefore share in terms of value."

Samsung is all set to launch Mpower 699 OMH technology in India

After the launch of Samsung B3310 slider phone, Samsung is all set to enter the Indian CDMA market. The company has teamed up with Qualcomm in order to launch the Mpower 699 handset with OMH technology in India. All CDMA operators will provide OMH SIM cards with this handset. The OMH technology is compatible only with the CDMA phones.
